The PLDT Internet Bundle

I saw the commercial the other night and thought it might be a good deal
since I'm a user of the PLDT Vibe prepaid card.

So I called up 171 to inquire and I didn't like the deal. Here's why:

1. The bundle is worth P840, yes internet is unlimited but still dial-up and hindi pa rin magagamit ang landline kapag naka-online. (Nope, ayoko pang magpakabit ng DSL kasi feeling ko mate-tempt kaming magbabad sa PC at malamang tataas lalo ang electric bill namin aside from paying a higher rate for internet).

2. If you're subscribed to other features like the unlimited calls, call-waiting etc, iba pa ang charge nun, dagdag pa.

3. The deal is co-terminus and matatali ka sa kanila for 12 months. I asked what if hindi ako satisfied sa service at mas maganda pa palang mag-prepaid na lang ako? Macha-charge daw ako ng 3 x P999 ata na disconnection fee PLUS puputulin ang linya ko. Ergo, kelangan mag-apply daw ulit for a new line. How about my old number? Eh co-terminus daw nga kaya tanggal din ang old number. When you re-apply, ibang number na daw plus bayad ka pa ng application fee. (Harang! Saka more than 10 years na etong # namin tapos mapuputol lang?! Parang hindi nila masyadong pinag-isipang mabuti ang terms nila ha!)

4. The speed daw is around 40-60 kbps (I think, hindi ko masyado matandaan. It may be lower pala ng konti) just like the prepaid connection. Kako nga, pano mangyayari yun eh sa prepaid, ang nakukuha ko pa malimit na connections 14-21 kbps lang! Hatinggabi ka pa suswertihin ng 24-32 kbps ano!

5. I was irritated at the CS rep dahil she keeps interrupting me in mid-sentence to say "Please hold, teka lang." Eh wala naman pa akong natatapos na tanong and definitely wala pa syang kelangang i-search na info related sa gusto kong malaman! 3x nyang ginawa sa kin yun, ang bastos ng dating. The 3rd time she did that, I hung up the phone. Ngayon lang ako naka-encounter ng ganong treatment from a CSR. Kahit sa Globe or Smart, they put you on hold lang when they're verifying something, hindi yung hindi mo pa natatapos ang tanong mo.

Conclusion: I'd rather continue buying several prepaid cards (Vibe, Inter.Net and Infocom) kasi at least may choices ako na kapag busy ang line nung isa, I can still get connected to the net. Besides, when I really need to download big files, punta na lang ako sa internet shop na may dsl then save the file sa aking flash disk. Mas madali pa and hindi sasakit ang ulo ko.
